MANAGER, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
As the Manager, Electrical Engineering, you play a key leadership role in overseeing engineering teams, ensuring efficient execution of engineering programs, and driving improvements in product quality, cost reduction, and technical innovation. In this role, a combination of technical expertise with strong people management, and a responsibility for ensuring teams are properly staffed, resourced, and trained to successfully develop and implement engineering solutions. As the leader, you will drive for continuous improvement in engineering processes, with a focus on automation, new product development, and addressing customer needs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
· Team Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor a team of 6 to 15 engineers, ensuring they are properly equipped, motivated, and supported to succeed. Maintain clear, consistent communication with team members, senior management, and other functional departments. Oversee staffing and the allocation of engineering resources for projects. Remove obstacles that hinder team performance. Identify needs for continued education and training, ensuring team members are up to date on the latest technologies and industry standards.
· Project Execution & Planning: Plan, lead, and manage engineering programs to ensure the profitable and timely execution of new product developments and product offerings. Develop detailed manpower plans and schedules to meet project goals and deadlines. Assist with the preparation of the department’s annual budget, making recommendations for cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
· Process and Technology Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving engineering processes and technology related to continuous casting systems. Work closely with the product development team to implement new technologies and ensure the engineering process aligns with customer and market needs. Oversee the development of risk analyses related to industrial machinery safety codes and electrical applications.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments within HSCC to align goals, priorities, and resources. Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies by interacting with suppliers, customers, and research establishments, including universities and federal laboratories.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
· Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Siemens and Allen Bradley core systems (PLC, Drives, and HMIs). Experience in programming and developing user interfaces for both Siemens and Allen Bradley systems. Strong understanding of industrial machinery safety codes and risk analysis. Technical knowledge of Hazelett products and processes.
Leadership and Team Management: Strong skills in supervising and mentoring a team, managing personnel issues, and ensuring team performance.
Communication Skills: Effective listening, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills are essential, especially when dealing with technical teams and upper management.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from planning to execution, ensuring deadlines and resource requirements are met. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Independent and Collaborative Working: Capability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Educational Requirements: A minimum of a B.S. in Electrical, Automation Engineering or a related field, with 10+ years of experience preferred.
Management Experience: Proven history of supervising or managing teams within a project or functional area.
Additional Training: Formal management training, particularly in people management and conflict resolution, is considered a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Duties will be carried out in an office environment, manufacturing production floor, and at customer and supplier sites as required, which might include occasional exposure to fumes, noise, and gases from equipment or machinery. The employee must utilize personal safety equipment when working on the production floor. Travel to attend meetings and visit customers is required.
